STEPS members will gain the soft and hard skills they need to begin the job search process or gain entry into their next educational option; program focuses on basic skill attainment and life management. Specifically, members participate in workshops, are in an intensive case management relationship, and attend group activities. The program measures movement from in crisis to stabilization in the following areas: employment, education, health & safety, income management, nutrition, shelter/housing, emergency conditions. The program is a feeder to the Center for Working Families. Additionally, specific funding has been awarded for families with children in targeted schools to address homelessness and mobility issues. Heads of households who qualify for Martindale-Brightwood Family Stability Program funds are enrolled in STEPS and are required to participate in the program and meet objectives in order to continue to receive support.
