Edna Martin Christian Center Leadership and Legacy Summer Program future leaders were blessed to participate in National Ministries Ecumenical Work Week III: Worship, Witness & Work from August 2 thru the 8th. The Marion County Commission on Youth (MCCOY) and the Summer Youth Program Fund recognized Edna Martin Christian Center Camp Counselor Julian Edwards with the Excellence in Summer Service Education Award on September 3rd. The Award is bestowed upon youth who operate as positive roles models, demonstrating a commitment to work, compassion and sensitivity to the needs of others. The Edna Martin Christian Center commenced its Leadership and Legacy After School Program on Monday, August 24th. Councilors will be working with the children and youths to enhance their in school performance through tutoring, faith education and the teaching of character development skills. The After School Program also opens the doors of EMCC as a safe haven, providing transportation and a hot meal in a Christian environment. The Edna Martin Christian Center Leadership and Legacy Summer Program, which was held from June 6th thru August 8th, afforded 130 Martindale-Brightwood community youth a summer full of character building, academic, artistic and faith learning activities.
