Youth Apply Leadership & Legacy Skills While Rebuilding New Orleans

Edna Martin Christian Center Leadership and Legacy Summer Program future leaders were blessed to participate in National Ministries Ecumenical Work Week III: Worship, Witness & Work from August 2 thru the 8th. The purpose of the project was the "Just Rebuilding of the Golf Coast." The center was well represented by five young men who assisted in rebuilding three homes in hurricane-ravaged New Orleans. The youths were afforded community service as well as trade learning opportunities to include painting, trim work, flooring and sheetrock, mowing, weeding, and serving meals to the homeless. This particular mission enabled youth to apply the teachings received in the Leadership and Legacy Summer Program which lasted eight weeks from June 6th through August 8th.
